Story of Varanasi
Varanasi, also called Kashi, is believed to be older than time itself. According to legend, Lord Shiva founded this city, choosing its sacred banks along the Ganges as the place where life and death meet. Few know that under some ghats, buried steps of temples whisper of forgotten centuries. The city’s name comes from the Varuna and Assi rivers, which converge here. The ghats have seen emperors, poets, and saints, while the eternal flame at Manikarnika Ghat is said to have been burning for centuries. Mark Twain once remarked that Varanasi is older than history, tradition, and legend combined. To walk here is to step through the heartbeat of India’s spirituality.
